Veteran actor Shabana Azmi has responded to the recent incident involving newly elected MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and actress Kangana Ranaut, who was reportedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport. Azmi said that security officials should refrain from taking the law into their own hands if not then "none of us can be safe."

Shrinate, who previously contested the seat in 2019 but lost to BJP's Pankaj Chaudhary, has been embroiled in a controversy following her remarks on actor Kangana Ranaut, the BJP's candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. 

"If a young man gets a ticket, his ideology is attacked. If a young woman gets a ticket, her sexuality is attacked. Strange!! Also, Congress people are sexualizing a small town’s name. Mandi is being used in sexual context everywhere, just because it has a young woman candidate, shame on Congress people for displaying sexist tendencies."
