India, UK Explore Ways To Deepen Commonwealth Cooperation

NEW DELHI: India and the United Kingdom explored ways to deepen their cooperation on a slew of areas relating to the Commonwealth on Thursday.

The discussions took place as part of the Director General level India-UK Commonwealth Dialogue that concluded in New Delhi on Thursday.

Prakash Gupta, Joint Secretary, UN-Political Division led a delegation from the Ministry of External Affairs, whereas Jo Lomas, UK Commonwealth Envoy, and officials from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the British High Commission in Delhi represented the UK.

Both sides exchanged views and discussed arrangements and outcome documents to be adopted during the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, in June, MEA said.

The UK led Commonwealth is home to 2.5 billion people and is composed of 54 countries from Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific.
