Munawar Faruqui marries 2nd time; netizens term it fake

NEW DELHI: Munawar Faruqui, a standup comedian and the winner of Big Boss 17 and Lock Upp Season 1 has reportedly married for the second time.

According to a fresh report, Munawar married on 26 May 2024, in a private ceremony at ITC Maratha in Mumbai. His wedding ceremony was attended by his close relatives and friends.

A picture supposedly of the banner of the comedian’s marriage is going viral on social media. The poster read, “With Allah’s blessings, and in the presence of loved ones, we’re ready to unite.”

The report of Munawar’s marriage comes two days after he was hospitalized after calling in sick. His friend, Nitin Meghwani shared the update on his Instagram story. Captioned, “Wishing all the strength to my brother @munawar. Faruqui will get well soon,” along with a picture of Faruqui lying on a hospital bed with a drip attached to his hand, on 24 May 2024.

The name of his second wife is Mehzabeen Coatwala, who is a makeup artist from Mumbai. Other details about the bride have not been revealed.

Meanwhile, netizens have termed this news as fake. One user tweeted on X saying, “Fake news about Munawar Faruqui wedding.”

Who is Munawar Faruqui?

Munawar Faruqui is a stand-up comedian who became popular with a YouTube video titled, ‘Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat in April, 2020. He won two reality TV shows, namely Big Boss and Lock Upp in the year 2022 and 2024 respectively.

What about his previous marriage?

Faruqui married Jasmine in 2017, which ended in divorce in 2022. They have a five-year-old son. After his divorce, he has reportedly dated multiple women, including social media influencer Nazila Sitaishi. Ayesha Khan, Munawar’s ex-partner, accused him of two timing her and Nazila. Later, Nazila broke up with Munawar.

Why was Munawar in controversy?

Munawar Faruqui performed a stand-up show at Munro Cafe in Madhya Pradesh. Eklavya Singh Gaur, son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur interrupted the show and accused Faruqui of making malicious jokes about Hindu Deities and Amit Shah, minister of home affairs.

The police arrested Munawar without having proper evidence. His arrest faced great criticism. The Supreme Court granted him bail after spending 37 days in Jail.

Munawar also boasts of a small TV career. Beginning as a Roast Comic from Coldd Lassi aur Chicken Masala, Munawar has made special appearances in Suhagan ke Rang, Jashn ke Sang, Dance Deewane 4 and Madness Machayenge – India ko Hasayenge.

The ace comedian has also worked in some music videos like, Halki si Barsaat, Ik tu hi, Halki Halki Si etc.
