After Cong MLA’s arrest, Kejriwal says won’t leave INDIA at ‘any cost’

New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sought to de-couple the arrest of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira by the AAP government in Punjab from the party’s future in the opposition INDI alliance.

Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal said that the AAP government in Punjab is fully committed to eradicating drugs, and that no one will be spared in this fight, regardless of their position or status.

“The government in Punjab of Bhagwant Mann and the AAP party is fully committed to eradicate drugs because drugs have destroyed an entire generation of youth. You can’t imagine the scale of drugs. So, when it comes to the war against drugs, we won’t spare anyone, be it a small or big person,” said the CM.

However, he said that the AAP is fully committed to make INDIA bloc a success and that it does not intend to leave the grouping any time soon.

“AAP is fully committed to the INDIA alliance and will not leave it at any cost. We are totally committed to the mission of the alliance,” he said.

He also declined to comment on who the prime ministerial face of the INDIA alliance will be. The Delhi chief minister said that the AAP’s stand is clear: they want every person in India to feel like they are the prime minister.

He said that the AAP wants to empower the 140-crore people of India rather than one person.

Kejriwal’s comments come amid questions about the future of the INDI alliance, which is a coalition of several opposition parties that was formed to challenge the BJP in the 2024 general elections. The alliance has been rocked by internal divisions in recent weeks, and some analysts have speculated that it may fail to pose any significant threat to PM Modi’s re-election in next year’s general elections.
