Chandigarh: Punjab is witnessing a true transformation in its education landscape under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, whose ambitious initiative — the ‘Schools of Eminence’ — is being hailed as the foundation of a new education revolution.

With a ₹231.74 crore investment, these schools are reshaping government education by breaking the decades-old divide between the rich and the poor. CM Mann envisions a future where Punjab’s youth will not just seek jobs but become job creators, driven by skill, confidence, and quality learning.

118 ‘Modern Age Temples’ for Learning

The government has established 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’, which the Chief Minister describes as “temples of the modern age.” Far beyond traditional classrooms, these schools represent the government’s pledge to provide every child — especially those from underprivileged backgrounds — access to top-quality education once reserved for private institutions.

Each school has been equipped with upgraded infrastructure, digital learning facilities, and improved teacher training programs to nurture talent from every corner of the state.

Equality Through Access and Support

Ensuring inclusivity remains central to the initiative. To support students from economically weaker sections, the government has introduced free uniforms and a free bus service for girls. Moreover, the state is providing specialized coaching for NEET, JEE, and Armed Forces exams — opportunities that usually cost lakhs in private institutions.

Community Participation and Mentorship

The state has also achieved remarkable community involvement. Over 25 lakh parents have taken part in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), reflecting a growing trust in government schools. Additionally, senior officers are mentoring students through the ‘School Mentorship Program’, ensuring that every child receives guidance beyond academics.

Results That Speak for Themselves

The initiative’s impact is already visible. 265 students from government schools have cleared JEE Mains, 44 qualified JEE Advanced, and 848 students cracked NEET — a record-breaking success that highlights the rise of government education in Punjab.

Interestingly, the credibility of this model has become so strong that students from private schools are now joining Schools of Eminence to benefit from their quality and opportunities.

A Bright Future Built on Knowledge

CM Mann’s visionary model is redefining education in Punjab — turning classrooms into runways of dreams for children from every background. With equal opportunity, modern infrastructure, and academic excellence, the Mann government is ensuring that Punjab’s future takes flight on the strong foundation of knowledge and empowerment.
