The incident exposes the deep-rooted prejudices and stereotypes that still exist among some sections of society, who consider Dalits as inferior and unworthy of respect. The fact that the accused was a temple committee director, who was supposed to ensure the smooth conduct of the pooja, makes the incident even more appalling and unacceptable.
