NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah today termed Congress’ “aggressive protest in black dress” as a subtle message that the party opposes the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“By holding an aggressive protest today in black clothes, Congress has given out a subtle message that they oppose the shilanyas in Ayodhya and the construction of the Ram Temple,” Shah said.

He added that Congress has been protesting against ED and price rise since the monsoon session of the Parliament but today’s aggressive protest in black clothes has a different message.

The Home Minister said that the problem of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya persisted for 550 years and Congress, which was in power for most of the time after Independence, did nothing to solve the problem. “Prime minister Narendra Modi solved the problem peacefully,” Shah pointed out.

Launching an attack on Congress for practising politics of appeasement, Home minister Shah said, “Even after getting defeats at so many places, Congress is not ready to abandon the politics of appeasement…it has done great damage to the country. Everyone should shun the politics of appeasement.”

After the Supreme Court settled the land dispute in Ayodhya in favour of Ram Lala, Prime minister Modi did shilanyas in Ayodhya on August 5, 2020.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath also attacked the Congress for protesting in black clothes. The Chief minister said that by holding a protest in black clothes on Ayodhya Diwas, the Congress party has insulted crores of Ram Bhakts.
