Israel has absolute right to defend from Hamas: UK PM Sunak

NEW DELHI: United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has extended his support to Israel which is under military attack by Palestinian Hamas terrorists.

The British PM said he was shocked by the attack this morning and asked British nationals to follow travel advice.

“I am shocked by this morning’s attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens. Israel has an absolute right to defend itself. We’re in contact with Israeli authorities, and British nationals in Israel should follow travel advice,” he said.

Sunak recently visited India with his wife during the G20 summit held in Delhi on September 9 and 10. The Hindu PM visited the Akshardham Temple during his visit with his wife Akshata Murthy, who is the daughter of Infosys founder Narayan and Sudha Murthy.

The Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas carried out its biggest attack on Israel in years as over 50 terrorists infiltrated into the country on Saturday killing four while another 100 were wounded.

Israeli authorities have issued an announcement indicating a “state of war” across the nation, resulting in widespread activation of bomb sirens. More than 5,000 explosives have been launched into Israel, causing significant disruptions and chaos throughout the entire country.

Meanwhile, James Cleverly, Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom and MP for Braintree, also took to X. While expressing his shock with what transpired in the morning in Israel, he said “The UK unequivocally condemns the horrific attacks by Hamas on Israeli civilians.”
