NEW DELHI: Some of India’s most renowned athletes came together for the fifth edition of the Indian Sports Honours to honour their outstanding accomplishments and services in a variety of sports. This event, which Cornerstone Sport organizes, showcases exceptional accomplishments in chess, cricket, squash, and Paralympic and Olympic sports as well as significant international competitions like the Asian and Commonwealth Games.

 

The celebration began spectacularly with a red carpet event that attracted a remarkable mix of Bollywood stars and sports legends. Actors and athletes took centre stage, highlighting the expanding nexus between entertainment and sports in India.

Legendary shooter Abhinav Bindra, tennis player Sania Mirza, para-swimming pioneer Muralikant Petkar, boxing champion Vijender Singh, and wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Sarabjot Singh were among the prominent athletes in attendance. A new generation of talent ready to influence India’s sports future was showcased at the event by rising stars including para-shooter Avani Lekhara, badminton champion Lakshya Sen, and cricket players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyanka Patil. The presence of former cricket player Robin Uthappa, field hockey greats Rani Rampal and Harmanpreet Singh, and others increased the evening’s significance.

With their support, Bollywood stars Kartik Aaryan, Karan Johar, Ananya Panday, Angad Bedi, and Neha Dhupia highlighted how popular sports are in India and how well-liked they are across all societal groups.
