NEW DELHI:  Once again social media has showcased its power, with reels and memes of global leaders taking participation. The G7 Summit started on June 13, in which many world leaders gathered in Italy to discuss topics ranging from Artificial Intelligence to global security. However, the encounters between Giorgia Meloni, Narendra Modi, and Rishi Sunak have become unexpected highlights of the event.

A video featuring Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now become an internet sensation, while British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is also the subject of viral memes from the same event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose Italy visit to attend the G7 Summit is now not only about intense discussions on global issues. Seems like his time there also has some parts to play for his interactions with state leaders and a memorable selfie video with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni. PM Modi is attending the summit as part of an outreach session and engaged in bilateral discussions with several world leaders before departing for India early Saturday.

Soon after, the hashtag #Melodi started trending on Saturday after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a lighthearted moment with PM Modi on social media. The viral video shows Meloni cheerfully saying, “Hello from the Melodi team,” a playful fusion of their names.

Another viral sensation from the event is British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak who also found himself in the spotlight, but for a different reason. During the Summit, Meloni greeted Sunak with a warm hug and a kiss on the cheek, and that moment quickly went viral.

Videos capturing this interaction show Sunak approaching Meloni, who responds with a friendly embrace and a kiss. The two leaders share a brief conversation and a laugh before posing for photographs. This moment, intended to be affectionate, has sparked a wave of memes and reactions on social media. Observers noted the seemingly awkward body language, with Meloni leaning away as Sunak leaned in multiple times.
