NEW DELHI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is yet again proving that his sobriquet ‘paltu’ or a ‘turncoat’ has been awarded to him aptly. Amid political developments taking place in Bihar’s landscape, it is likely that the CM of the Mahagathbandhan or grand alliance will join forces with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Kumar will tender his resignation on Sunday, sources also suggest that a JD(U)-BJP alliance will take oath on Sunday at 4 pm.

According to undisclosed sources, the BJP’s high command has finalised the outline of a new coalition in Bihar. The party leaders from Bihar were summoned to Delhi on Friday, where discussions centred on the political future of the state. Despite initial reservations among Bihar BJP leaders about compromising with Nitish Kumar, there seems to be a shift in the party’s stance.

In the unfolding political scenario, Amit Shah reportedly had a conversation with Chirag Paswan, apprising him of the formation of a new coalition. Furthermore, Nityanand Rai was dispatched from Delhi to persuade Jitan Ram Manjhi.

The BJP has scheduled a legislative party meeting on Saturday to officially discuss the formation of the new coalition. It is anticipated that BJP leaders will convey to their legislators the party high command’s decision to reconcile with Nitish Kumar. Subsequently, formalities to secure legislators’ consent for forming a government with Nitish Kumar will be undertaken.

Meanwhile, JD(U) is expected to convene a meeting of its legislators, instructing them to gather in Patna. Speculation suggests that JD(U) may announce a break from its alliance with RJD and form a new coalition with BJP. In this meeting, Nitish Kumar will announce his resignation from the post of Chief Minister.
