NEW DELHI: Amid intensifying hostilities between Iran and Israel, the Indian Mission in Tehran issued an urgent public advisory on Tuesday, confirming that several Indian students had been safely relocated from the capital. Citing security concerns, the Embassy advised all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) residing in Tehran to evacuate the city using available personal means and shift to safer areas beyond its limits.
In its latest communication, the diplomatic mission mentioned that a section of Indian evacuees had successfully crossed into Armenia as part of precautionary arrangements.
The advisory follows a stark warning issued by US President Donald Trump, who publicly urged an immediate evacuation of Tehran amid fears of further escalation.
“All Indian citizens and PIOs currently in Tehran and capable of self-evacuation should move to secure areas outside the city immediately,” read the Embassy’s post on X, reflecting the gravity of the situation.
Additionally, the Embassy called upon all nationals in the region who haven’t yet established contact with officials to reach out without delay and share their current location along with reachable phone numbers.
“Any Indian not already in contact with the Embassy is urged to reach out and share their exact whereabouts and contact details at the earliest,” the mission’s alert further stated.
Three emergency contact lines have been made available to assist Indian nationals in Tehran:
+989010144557
+989128109115
+989128109109
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi also activated round-the-clock control rooms in both Israel and Iran. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that these dedicated emergency centres are now operational to monitor the situation and coordinate any assistance required as both nations exchange airstrikes and missile attacks for the fifth consecutive day.
