NEW DELHI: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has canceled the Class 12 English board exam across all examination centers following reports of a possible paper leak.
The breach was detected at Government Senior Secondary School, Chowari, in Chamba district, where teachers mistakenly opened the Class 12 English question paper instead of the Class 10 paper, according to media reports.
The Class 12 English exam was scheduled for March 8. HPBOSE received an anonymous complaint on March 7, alleging that the question paper had been accessed before the scheduled date and time.
The board swiftly investigated the claim and verified it using video evidence from the newly introduced “ExamMitra App,” a monitoring system.
On Friday, Vishal Sharma, Secretary of the Board, stated that HPBOSE took the matter seriously.
“Exercising the powers granted under Section 2.1.2 of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Examination Regulations, 1993 (amended up to July 2017), the Board’s chairman ordered the immediate cancellation of the Class 12 English examination statewide,” he said.
The Board assured students that a new date for the re-examination will be announced soon and advised them to follow official updates.
This incident has raised concerns about the security measures in place for board examinations.
In response, authorities are reviewing protocols to enhance safeguards and prevent such breaches in the future.
The Board has assured students and parents that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
