NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi has been summoned by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday. The summons comes regarding a defamation case filed by Delhi BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor. The court has asked Atishi to appear on 29 May in the court.

The notice comes after earlier this year Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi alleged that BJP was attempting to poach seven AAP MLAs by offering Rs 25 crore each.

The BJP denied the allegations, terming them as “false” and “baseless.” They even asked Atishi to bring out the evidence to substantiate the claims. Following this, BJP were served with a notice by the Delhi Police regarding the poaching allegations.

Later, Atishi also claimed in a press conference that BJP has approached her to either join their party or face the arrest by ED. “The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don’t switch over, ED will arrest me within a month,” Atishi had claimed.

These claims led to BJP sending a defamation notice to Atishi and also demanded a public apology. Meanwhile, Atishi has been active since Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM was sent to jail. After his interim bail, she along with senior leaders of the party has been doing most of the election related work.

One of the biggest supporters of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi even gave statements against former Delhi Commission for Women chief, Swati Maliwal in her alleged harassment case by Kejriwal’s close aide, Bibhav Kumar.
