CM Nitish Kumar approves 35 agendas in Bihar Cabinet meeting, unveils key initiatives

NEW DELHI: On Friday, the Bihar Cabinet convened under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave the green light to a total of 38 agenda items spanning various government departments.  Under the “Chief Minister’s Agricultural Electricity Connection Scheme” Phase 2, an allocation of 2,190 crores has been approved for the construction of power lines for interested farmers under the Fourth Agriculture Road Map. Free electricity connections to farmers will also be provided under this scheme.

Additionally, in this meeting, the Bihar State Backward and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Department has received approval for the Bihar State Backward and Extremely Backward Class Girls’ Residential +2 High School Teacher (Appointment, Promotion, Disciplinary Action, and Service Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2023. The Industry Department has also received approval for the creation of six additional positions of lower-level clerks (Pay Level-02) under the Bihar Secretariat Clerical Service for recommended candidates.

Moreover, emergency services are being initiated in villages that are far from the city. By dialing 112, citizens can now avail of immediate services, including police, ambulance, and fire incident information through this integrated service. The government will spend Rs 766.31 crore on this initiative.

Furthermore, Bihar’s rules for driver recruitment have been revised. Technical Selection Commission will conduct driver recruitment in every department in the state. The Bihar Driver Recruitment and Service Conditions (Amendment) Regulations 2023 have been approved.

Additionally, an important decision has been approved in the cabinet meeting concerning Nitish’s hometown, Bakhtiarpur. In line with this decision, an administrative expenditure of Rs. 68.54 lakhs has been sanctioned for safety and flood protection measures along the Ganga channel, particularly on the right bank of the Ganga Ghats situated near the Bakhtiarpur block in Patna district.
