New Delhi:  In a show of solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several top leaders from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) changed their names on the X platform to ‘Modi ka Parivar’

(Modi’s family) on Monday. The move comes in response to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav’s recent criticism of PM Modi, where he made remarks about the Prime Minister’s family status and accused him of dynasty politics during a rally in Patna.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with other prominent BJP leaders, including Piyush Goyal and BJP national president JP Nadda, Several National Capital BJP leaders like Kapil Mishra and others were among the first to adopt the ‘Modi ka Parivar’ tag on their social media profiles.

Addressing a public rally in Telangana’s Adilabad, PM Modi responded to the criticism, stating, “Opposition says Modi has no family, but Crores of people in the country consider me as their own and love me like a member of their family.

The “Modi ka Parivar” campaign is reminiscent of the “Main bhi chowkidar” initiative ahead of the 2019 general elections, where BJP leaders added “Main bhi chowkidar (I am a watchman too)” to their social media handles to counter criticisms from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This latest move by BJP leaders aims to demonstrate unwavering support for PM Modi and reinforce the party’s unity ahead of the upcoming elections.

The whole controversy started after Lalu Prasad Yadav’s statement while addressing the party’s ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna on Sunday. In his attempt to retaliate against Modi’s remarks on dynastic politics, Lalu Yadav said, “Modi talks about dynastic politics, but what is dynastic politics? You (Modi) should explain why don’t you have children?”

He future added  “Narendra Modi is not a Hindu! Hindu people get tonsured on the death of their acquaintances, but he (Modi) did not do this even on the death of his mother,” said Lalu Prasad Yadav.
