NEW DELHI: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the new Multi Agency Centre (MAC) at North Block in the national capital today. The upgraded intelligence coordination hub is designed to enhance India’s capability in handling complex and interconnected national security challenges.

Addressing the gathering, Shah hailed Operation Sindoor as a “unique symbol” of the firm political will of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the precise intelligence provided by agencies, and the unmatched strike capability of India’s three armed forces.

He said the entire nation takes pride in the Indian Army, the Border Security Force (BSF), and all other security and intelligence agencies.

Highlighting recent operations, Shah praised the historic anti-Naxal campaign carried out by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the Karregattalu Hills (KGH) along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, calling it a shining example of excellent coordination among India’s security forces.

The Home Minister underlined that the new MAC will synergise the efforts of all intelligence and law enforcement agencies, providing a seamless and integrated platform for addressing modern-day threats, including terrorism, extremism, organised crime, and cyber attacks.

He expressed satisfaction over the completion of hardware and software upgrades in record time, noting that the new MAC incorporates AI/ML technologies and GIS services for better use of its vast intelligence database. The upgraded network will enhance trend analysis, hotspot mapping, and predictive operations, offering more accurate and actionable outcomes.

Calling it a major leap in India’s security framework, Shah said the MAC will play a key role in breaking down the terror ecosystem and bridging data silos across central agencies. He laid out a future roadmap focused on integrating other significant databases to bolster analytics and intelligence coordination.

Established in 2001, the Multi-Agency Centre has been India’s premier intelligence fusion facility under the Intelligence Bureau. The latest upgrade, executed at a cost of over ₹500 crore, expands its coverage across island territories, insurgency-affected regions, and high-altitude terrains, ensuring secure, last-mile connectivity even to district-level Superintendents of Police in remote areas.
