NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of the devastating floods, the Punjab government has rolled out an extensive health safety plan to prevent the outbreak of diseases. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while speaking about the initiative, said, “The whole of Punjab is my family, and I am always committed to the well-being of my family.”

Medical Camps Across Punjab

According to official data released for September 14–16, medical camps were organized in 2,100 villages, where 1,42,395 patients were examined. The majority of cases included fever (19,187) and skin infections (22,118). Additionally, 14,848 cases of diarrhoea, cough, and other infections were reported.

So far, more than 1,250 relief and health camps have been set up, reaching over 1.8 lakh people. Health teams are also active in Anganwadi and Aashirwad centres.

Daily Health Updates at 6 PM

To ensure transparency and public awareness, CM Mann announced that the government will release daily health statistics every evening at 6 PM. He appealed to people to immediately approach government medical camps if they experience symptoms such as fever, skin rashes, or diarrhoea.

Preventive Measures and Awareness Drives

ASHA workers have launched door-to-door surveys, advising families on hygiene, use of boiled water, and mosquito prevention. Health officials warned that as floodwaters recede, the risk of infections and seasonal diseases will increase. To tackle this, the government has set up special isolation wards in government hospitals, with doctors deployed round-the-clock.

Collective Effort for Public Health

Alongside government efforts, AAP workers, ministers, and MLAs are participating in sanitation and relief drives across villages and towns. “This is not just the government’s responsibility but also a shared duty of every Punjabi to keep our villages, towns, and neighbourhoods disease-free,” CM Mann said.

No Citizen Left Behind

Reassuring people, the Chief Minister stated that no citizen of Punjab will face hardship, as medical teams are reaching out to every individual in need. He urged people to stay vigilant and contact nearby camps or health teams without delay.
