NEW DELHI: Radico Khaitan, India’s leading distiller and spirits manufacturer — that has led country’s strong presence globally with its world-recgonised alcohol brands 8PM, Magic Moments, Jaisalmer, Spirit of Victory 1999, Morpheus, Royal Ranthambore — on Wednesday announced the withdrawal of its upcoming alcohol brand Trikal amid speculations that it was being confused with any religious connotation.
The move came even as many renowned Hindu influencers have stood by Uttar Pradesh-headquartered company for having been a leading Indian IMFL manufacturer to have helped tons of Indians by providing market research, robust R&D and blending, jobs, revenue-oriented skills and partnership programmes with several governments, saying certain statements by seers were not in line with the company’s commitment over the years.
Radico Khaitan, that has withstood the times to make a presence in 85 countries and six continents, in a statemen, said” The name ‘Trikal’ comes from Sanskrit and means ‘three times’ referring to the past, present, and future. We are, first and foremost, a proud Indian company, we are born of this land, built by its people, and dedicated to upholding its values. We hold the sentiments of every Indian close to our hearts and respect every voice that speaks for our shared identity. We understand that concerns have been raised regarding the brand name. As a responsible and sensitive organization, post internal review we have decided to withdraw the brand.”
The company added that it was not just a business decision to withdraw the brand but it is a gesture of respect, reflection, and our unwavering commitment to honour the sentiments of our people and our country.”
