US Pledges USD 1.3 Billion In Security, Economic Support To Ukraine

WASHINGTON DC: United States President Joe Biden on Thursday announced an additional USD 1.3 billion in security and economic package for Ukraine as its military struggles to fight off a renewed Russian assault.

As per the White House, the US to provide USD 800 million in security assistance and USD 500 million in economic support following a meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal with President Biden.

In a tweet, Shmyhal said, “Ukraine will win because truth and friends are on our side. Met today in Washington with President Biden @POTUS. Grateful for support of Ukrainians and additional financial assistance in the amount of $800 million. Together we will stop Russian aggression and restore.”

President Biden said that he conveyed “our continued commitment to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s brutal war of aggression” and reiterated to “impose costs on Russia” for attacking Ukraine.
