UP migrant worker shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir’s Pulwama

SRINAGAR: In a tragic incident, a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh, Mukesh Singh, lost his life after being shot by terrorists in Pulwama district, South Kashmir. This marks the second terrorist attack in the region within a span of 24 hours, raising concerns about the security situation in the Kashmir Valley.

Singh was shot at around 12:45 pm on Monday, in the Rajpora area, succumbing to his injuries on the spot, according to officials.

The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the tragic incident via a social media post on X, stating, “Terrorists fired upon one laborer identified as Mukesh of U.P in Tumchi Nowpora area of Pulwama, who later succumbed to his injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and further details shall follow.”

This event comes in the wake of a prior attack within the Kashmir Valley. In the previous incident, Inspector Masroor Wani who was playing a game of cricket with local boys at an Idgah ground was critically injured as a pistol-borne terrorist came close and fired three bullets on him.

The occurrences of these two attacks underscore the ongoing security challenges in the region and the risks faced by both the local population and migrant workers.
Earlier on October 26, five Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the Machhal sector, police said.
