NEW DELHI: Union minister and BJP heavyweight in UP, Mahendra Nath Pandey, on Tuesday expressed optimism about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning the 2024 general election with a greater vote share.

“With India progressing further, making amazing strides in the global sphere, I can guarantee you that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win the 2024 general election with an even greater margin in Uttar Pradesh and in India,” Pandey told The New Indian.

Pandey, the Lok Sabha MP of Chandauli, has been instrumental in enabling the BJP to maintain its hold over UP’s lower house seats, especially in the Purvanchal district. He has emerged victorious since the 2014 general election.

Entering the new parliament complex with new hope, Pandey said, “After 75 years of Independence, we have transitioned from the old parliament, which is now known as Samvidan Bhavan, to the new parliament, signalling the pace with which PM Modi has taken us to reach the Amrit Kaal of India’s lifetime.” He added that it was also a clarion call for “Bharat’s” resilience.

The 65-year-old union minister also laid emphasis on the symbolism of the sengol, which had been brought from Tamil Nadu during the inauguration of the new building.

“All parliamentarians have now accepted the significance of the sengol,” he said, while adding that Modi’s ability to construct the building during the heavy swathe of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, was commendable and was only possible under him.

“This was the best start I could have hoped for,” exclaimed Pandey.

The special session of the parliament was held on Tuesday for the first time at the new parliament.
