NEW DELHI: During a high-profile business forum in Abu Dhabi, President Donald Trump highlighted the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) monumental pledge to invest $1.4 trillion in the United States over the next decade. “We’re making great progress toward the $1.4 trillion that the UAE has announced it intends to spend in the United States over the next couple of years,” President Trump stated, underscoring the deepening economic ties between the two nations.
This unprecedented investment framework, announced by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to bolster cooperation across key sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), energy, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
A significant portion of the UAE’s investment is earmarked for the development of AI infrastructure. Plans include constructing one of the world’s largest AI data center complexes in Abu Dhabi, a project spearheaded by Emirati AI firm G42. The facility is set to operate with an initial capacity of 1 gigawatt, eventually expanding to 5 gigawatts, supporting over 2 million next-generation Nvidia GB200 chips.
In the energy sector, the UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced plans to increase its investments in U.S. energy projects from $70 billion to $440 billion by 2035. This includes collaborations with U.S. energy firms on oil and natural gas projects valued at $60 billion.
The $1.4 trillion investment commitment reflects the UAE’s confidence in the U.S. market and its commitment to a long-term partnership. President Trump’s visit to the UAE marks the final leg of his Middle East tour, which included stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, focusing on strengthening economic partnerships and securing substantial business deals.
This investment initiative not only underscores the UAE’s strategic shift towards diversifying its economy but also cements its role as a key player in the global technological and energy sectors. As both nations look forward to a future of enhanced cooperation, this landmark agreement sets the stage for a new era of U.S.-UAE relations.
