NOIDA: A dozen supporters of Shrikant Tyagi, who abused, manhandled, and spat on a woman, entered the Grand Omaxe Society and created a ruckus on Sunday evening.

Considering it a serious lapse by the local cops, the UP Police have suspended six personnel, including station house officer (SHO) of Phase 2 police station Sujeet Updhyay.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Updhyay held charge of SHO. But he has now been replaced by Inspector Param Hans Tiwari following the order.

In all, two SIs and four constables, including two female personnel, faced suspension. They were suspended for dereliction of duty.

DCP Ankita Sharma confirmed the development to The New Indian.

The police on Monday also registered a case of trespassing against six youths, who were caught by the residents at Tyagi’s house and handed them over to the local police.

Police said since Tyagi was on the run, the police officers were deployed for the security of the victim and other residents of the society, but these men – allegedly Tyagi backers — managed to enter the society. They also argued with the residents for exposing Tyagi.

Two FIRs were registered against Tyagi for molesting a woman and acquiring illegal properties in a forged manner.
