JAMMU: Three individuals who disappeared on Thursday from the Billawar region in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district have been discovered dead, officials confirmed today.

A government representative informed The New Indian that the bodies of the three were recovered from a steep ravine in the high-altitude areas of Billawar following extensive search efforts by security forces.

Legislator from Billawar, Satish Kumar, had raised concerns about the disappearance of the individuals during the assembly session on Friday.

According to the official, search operations commenced immediately after the missing persons were reported.

The deceased, all hailing from Lohai Malhar village, have been identified as Varun Singh (15), Yogesh Sharma (32), and Darshan Singh (40).

Investigators are looking into a potential terror link, with a particular focus on the possible role of Pakistan-backed militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba’s affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF).

Notably, on February 16, two civilians, Shamsher (37) and Roshan (45), were also found dead in Kohag village of Billawar.
