Telangana CM Reddy gives greenlight to KCR’s Rythu Bandhu scheme

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed government officials to initiate the process of depositing Rythu Bandhu benefits into the accounts of all farmers in the state, prior to which he held a review of the Agriculture department at the state secretariat.

The benefits had started being doled out on Monday.

Among the reviewers, ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, P Srinivasa Reddy, Santhi Kumari, Ramakrishna Rao, Seshadri and Raghunandan Rao had also participated in the review.

Reddy discussed the functioning and performance of the agriculture department, especially regarding its implementation of farmers’ welfare programmed, through the three-hour long meeting.

The Telangana CM further added that an action plan should be drawn up for a loan waiver scheme up till an amount of Rs 2 lakh, in accordance to the promises he had made during his campaigns.

The scheme had initially been introduced by the Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS)-led K Chandrashekhar Rao government which had promised to provide the state’s farmers with monetary support during the course of the harvest seasons, for two crops a year.

Presently, the allocated budget for the scheme has been slated at Rs 14,800 crore, according to the estimates from the financial year of 2021-22.

Reddy further rechristened the Praja Darbar as ‘Praja Vani’, which is to be held at the Jyoti Rao Phule Praja Bhavan on every Tuesday and Friday, from 10 AM to 1 PM. He further made provisions for people reaching before time, providing them with a portal for applications.

These gatherings would also entail separate queues for the disabled and women, alongside the availability of clean drinking water at the venue.
