NEW DELHI: The recent breach of Parliament security on December 13 has led to the detention of two additional suspects, Kailash and Mahesh, shedding light on the intricate web of conspirators involved in the well-planned attack. The Delhi Police Special Cell has formed multiple teams, to investigate and gather crucial evidence.
Main conspirator Lalit Mohan Jha, aged 32, reportedly destroyed all technical evidence, including mobile phones, on the morning of his apprehension. His four associates, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Neelam Verma, and Amol Shinde, were arrested after opening smoke cans inside and outside the Parliament. Jha, who managed to escape the scene with their ID cards and phones, later met his associate Mahesh in Kuchaman City, Rajasthan. Mahesh, connected through the ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Page’ on Facebook, was intended to join the group but was halted by his mother.

Mahesh, along with his cousin Kailash, took Jha to a local dhaba where they obtained a room to destroy the phones. Jha and Mahesh subsequently left, informing Kailash that they were heading to surrender before the Parliament. This sequence of events underscores the meticulous planning and execution involved in the conspiracy.

The investigation has unveiled diverse geographical connections. A Special team is headed to Mysore to investigate since two of the four accused in the breach are Mysuru residents. Meanwhile, Sagar Sharma, the main accused, got the visitor’s pass in the name of Mysuru BJP MP Pratap Singh.
Another team focuses on Hisar, the location where Neelam Verma, who calls herself, Neelam Azad, was staying for higher studies. The team aims to unravel how the plan was conducted in Hisar. Furthermore, Lucknow, where special shoes with concealed compartments were crafted, is under scrutiny. These unique shoes, designed to hide smoke canisters, were purchased along with canisters from Mumbai.

A separate team will investigate Kolkata, as Jha, suspected to be the mastermind, is believed to be residing in, as a teacher.

Simultaneously, efforts are underway in Rajasthan, where Lalit fled after the incident. The police team in Rajasthan is gathering evidence to piece together the events that transpired post-incident. Lalit’s decision to destroy mobile phones and collaborate with Mahesh in planning further actions unveils a complex network of conspirators.
The gravity of the situation becomes more apparent as details emerge about the accused carrying a pamphlet declaring Prime Minister Modi a missing person. The police have registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, with additional sections of 16 (terrorism) and 18 (conspiracy for terrorism) of the UAPA Act.
