Rajnath Singh declares assets worth 7.36 crores, submits nomination

LUCKNOW: Rajnath Singh, the defence minister of India filed his nomination on Monday from the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, where he has declared his and his wife Savitri Singh’s wealth worth in crores.

The affidavit reveals that they have Rs 1.20 lakh, as a combined cash in hand with Singh holding Rs 70 thousand and his wife Rs 50 thousand. 

More information mentioned is about his immovable assets, which include properties he owns, including agricultural lands. The combined worth of which goes over 3.34 crores which includes agricultural lands in five villages of Chandauli district worth Rs  1.47 crore, and his house in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area is valued at Rs 1.87 crore. Whereas his wife does not own any immovable assets.

The document also reveals that Singh owns a revolver and a double-barrel gun, both valued at Rs 10,000 but does not have any liabilities. The Union Minister’s and his wife’s movable assets include 750 grams of gold worth Rs 52.50 lakh and 12.50 kg of silver valued at over Rs ₹ 9.37 lakh. 

While Singh has 60 grams of gold worth 1.80 lakhs and gems worth Rs. 30 lakhs. The total value of Singh’s assets is worth over Rs 3.11 crore, while his wife’s movable assets are worth Rs 90.71 lakh making the total amount of over Rs 4.02 crore.

Singh who also has a Master’s degree from Gorakhpur University in Science won the Lok Sabha election from Ghaziabad in 2009 before Lucknow in 2014. He again won in 2019 defeating Samajwadi Party’s Poonam Sinha. This time Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra will contest against Singh. The Lok Sabha elections in Lucknow will be seen in the fifth phase scheduled on May 20.
