NEW DELHI: In a significant step toward making Punjab “vibrant, healthy, and future-ready,” Fortis Healthcare has announced a ₹900 crore investment to expand its Mohali campus.

Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora highlighted that the expansion will add over 400 new beds and create a world-class Centre of Excellence across 13.4 acres, positioning Punjab as a hub for advanced medical care, employment, and modern facilities.

The Punjab government’s proactive approach, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, has facilitated this investment, which will generate over 2,200 direct jobs and thousands of indirect employment opportunities. The project will directly employ more than 2,500 people, giving the state’s youth a strong foothold in the healthcare sector.

The expanded facility will include state-of-the-art ICU, cardiology, oncology, organ transplant, robotic surgery, and over 40 super-specialty services. The existing Fortis campus already has 375 beds and 194 ICU beds, providing top-quality healthcare in the region. The government’s Public-Private Partnership strategy aims to make Punjab a global hub for medical care, with multi-specialist hospitals also operational in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and other districts.

Since 2013, Fortis Healthcare has invested over ₹1,500 crore in Punjab, establishing a network of modern hospitals, including a 259-bed super-specialty campus in Ludhiana and facilities in Amritsar and Jalandhar.

This expansion reflects Punjab’s “Sehatmand, Rangla Punjab” vision, ensuring timely, affordable, and high-quality healthcare for all citizens. Health Minister Sanjeev Arora stated, “The Punjab government is committed to transforming healthcare and continuously improving facilities for the people.”

With the Hospital PPP Act, several pilot projects are underway, enhancing medical resources, technology, and doctor availability, which directly benefits citizens with free or affordable services.

The Mohali medical hub will boost Punjab’s identity in medical tourism and position the state as a leader in healthcare innovation. Coupled with over 800 Aam Aadmi Clinics providing free medicines and 38 diagnostic services, Punjab is setting benchmarks for accessible and quality healthcare.

The partnership between the Punjab government and Fortis Healthcare marks a milestone in building a healthy, advanced, and prosperous Punjab, demonstrating the state’s strength, resilience, and vision to the rest of India and the world.
