NEW DELHI: The e-Shram portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to create a National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), has recorded over 30.68 crore registrations as of March 3, 2025. Notably, 53.68% of the registered workers are women, highlighting the initiative’s reach among female workers.
Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Sushri Shobha Karandlaje informed the Lok Sabha that e-Shram has evolved into a “One-Stop-Solution” for unorganised workers, integrating 13 major social security schemes to facilitate direct access to welfare benefits.
“The e-Shram portal ensures that workers in the unorganised sector can easily access government schemes without bureaucratic hurdles. With over 30.68 crore registrations, it is a significant step towards financial and social inclusion,” Karandlaje said.
The schemes mapped with e-Shram include:
– Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi)
– Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
– Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
– National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS)
– Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)
– Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G)
– Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U)
– Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)
– Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)
– Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY)
To enhance accessibility, the government launched multilingual functionality on January 7, 2025, via the Bhashini platform, enabling workers to interact with the portal in 22 Indian languages.
Additionally, a mobile app launched on February 24, 2025, provides real-time access to scheme benefits.
The government is actively raising awareness through SMS campaigns, social media, Common Service Centres (CSCs), and State Seva Kendras (SSKs). e-Shram is also integrated with National Career Service (NCS), Skill India Digital Portal, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandan (PMSYM), and myScheme for employment and pension support.
“With e-Shram now available on the UMANG app, we are ensuring that every unorganised worker can register and benefit from government schemes effortlessly,” Karandlaje added.
