SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday stated that he deliberated on multiple topics, including the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, the prevailing security landscape, and administrative matters during his interaction with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Omar Abdullah met the Home Minister at the Parliament complex today. Following the discussion, he told journalists that he had an in-depth exchange with Amit Shah regarding J&K’s statehood, governance affairs, security concerns, and preparations for the upcoming budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, scheduled for March 3.
This marks the third formal engagement between Omar Abdullah and Amit Shah since Abdullah assumed charge as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
When questioned about the cohesion within the INDIA bloc, Omar Abdullah refrained from making any remarks. “I have nothing to add on that matter,” he said, asserting that if the opposition alliance organizes a meeting in the future, he will address any relevant issues there.
“If I make any statements in the media, my words often get distorted. Therefore, if there is anything to be discussed, I will bring it up in an INDIA bloc meeting,” he clarified.
A week ago, Home Minister Amit Shah presided over a high-level security assessment meeting at his official residence in New Delhi. The session saw participation from senior security officials and key administrative figures, including Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
