Narain Singh was garlanded with currency notes by some people when he paid obeisance in the Amarkot Gurdwara before his arrest. The Nihangs continue to maintain that the man was killed by them and his hands after desecration of holy book Guru Granth Sahib.

As the killing has created a national outrage, Sonipat Police has said there could be more arrests taking place soon. The body of 35-year-old Lakhbir Singh, from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, was seen tied to a police barricade with the left hand chopped off and right foot dismembered.
