NEW DELHI: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi will appear before Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 26 in connection with an alleged money laundering case involving National Herald, officials said on Friday.
Gandhi, 75, was questioned for over two and a half hours on Thursday by the financial probe agency in connection with the same case.
ED officials, related to the probe, said that she has been asked to appear on July 26. Officials, however, did not share the exact reason why the date of questioning was changed from July 25.
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary (organisations) KC Venugopal said that the ED had called Sonia Gandhi on Monday for questioning, but now they are saying that they are not in a convenient position on that day. He said that they are asking for another date.
Sonia Gandhi, who is also an MP from Rae Bareli, appeared before the ED after skipping its summons twice on June 8 and June 23 as she tested positive for COVID and was advised to rest.
