Malabar Gold & Diamonds

Summary

Malabar Gold & Diamonds sued Vijay Gajera for posts alleging collaboration with a Pakistani influencer who mocked the Indian Army. The company seeks Gajera’s detention and removal of the tweets. Gajera claims his posts are factual and driven by national interest, vowing to choose jail over silence.

NEW DELHI: A controversy has erupted after Malabar Gold & Diamonds, owned by MP Ahammed, initiated legal action against social media user Vijay Gajera for a series of posts alleging that the jewellery brand collaborated with a Pakistani influencer who had previously mocked India’s Operation Sindoor and the Indian Army.

According to a document reviewed by this publication, the company has sought court directions for the detention of Vijay Gajera in civil prison for up to three months, alleging non-compliance with prior court orders and objectionable online content. The plea also requests the Cyber Cell Mumbai Police to trace and remove the disputed tweets.

In response, Gajera stated on X (formerly Twitter):

“Malabar Gold wants to send me to jail for exposing their Pakistani influencer collaboration, who has mocked our Operation Sindoor. I am willing to go to jail for the pride of our Army. You can’t silence me just because you have money and power.”

He further maintained that his posts were factual and driven by national interest, adding,

“As an Indian company, it’s your first duty to hire Indian influencers instead of Pakistani ones who have mocked our Army. I will choose jail over bowing down to a company that hires anti-India influencers for profit.”

The matter has ignited debate online, with supporters hailing Gajera’s stance as patriotic, while others caution against misinformation and social media trials.

Officials from Malabar Gold & Diamonds have not yet issued a detailed public statement on the matter.
