Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir attached the property of a terrorist commander from Doda, currently operating from Pakistan, on Saturday.

Acting tough against absconding Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Commander Abdul Rashid alias Jehangir, the Thathri of Doda district attached his property (land) in the execution of the court order.

“Rashid was declared a proclaimed offender by the order of the Court for his involvement in the heinous terror-related incidents. His warrant of attachment of property was forwarded by SSP Doda,” the police said.

“As a result, a team was formed by District Magistrate, Doda, to carry out the court order, and the absconder’s property (land measuring 4 kanals and 212 marlas) in village Khanpura, Tehsil Pgahsoo (Thathri) was attached by a joint team of Revenue and Police,” the police added.

Rashid joined the terrorist ranks in 1993. He crossed the border to get arms training with the intention of carrying out subversive activities. “After getting training in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), he came back and remained active in terror-related activities in District Doda,” the police said.

Rashid, along with other dreaded and hardcore terrorists, was found involved in a number of terrorist attacks on civilians and security forces. He was also involved in various terror incidents like arson, blasts, etc. in the region, the police said.

Rashid was also instrumental in instigating and recruiting a number of youths from Doda into militancy, the police said. He also initially motivated and recruited dreaded terrorist Mohd Amin alias Khubaib to join militancy.

Amin is now operating from PAK and POK, where he is trying to revive militancy in the Chenab region. He is involved in a number of terror-related incidents, including IED blasts, drone dropping, attempts at transportation of weapon consignments, etc., to revive militancy in the Jammu region. Amin has also been declared a Proclaimed Offender by the court.
