IT raids uncover over Rs 295 cr in cash linked to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu

Income Tax Department sources have disclosed that the ongoing raids on properties associated with Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu have revealed a cash sum exceeding Rs. 295 crore.

NEW DELHI: Income Tax Department sources have disclosed that the ongoing raids on properties associated with Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu have revealed a cash sum exceeding Rs. 295 crore. As of now, the counting process has reached Rs 300 crore, with the search operations still in progress.

The active raids are being carried out at various locations connected to MP Dheeraj Sahu and multiple private firms situated in Odisha, Kolkata, and Jharkhand. Initially estimated at around Rs. 200 crore, the recovered amount has now surpassed Rs. 300 crore, with ongoing counting processes including additional rooms and unopened lockers.

New leads regarding cash stashes in different locations have prompted plans for further raids in the coming days.

The current search operations cover Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd (BDPL) and its associated branches, Baldev Sahu and Group of Companies, as well as corporate offices in Bhuvaneshwar linked to Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd. IT teams are actively conducting searches at these locations.

In addition, IT teams are present at Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd’s premises in Boudh Rambhikata and Rani Sati Rice Mills. Further searches are ongoing at Sudapda in Bolangir, Radium Road in Ranchi, and two residences in Titilagarh owned by liquor dealers.

These raids have spanned three days across Odisha, Kolkata, and Jharkhand. While Rs. 200 crore has been counted, the counting process continues for the remaining cash, and no seizures have been made yet due to the ongoing operation.

IT department sources also indicated that the search extends to properties belonging to relatives of Dheeraj Sahu. However, no official statement has been released by the IT department as the operation is still underway.

“We recovered cash from beds and almirahs at BDPL. The operation may extend for another two days,” stated the source.
