NEW DELHI: In the third and final ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India crushed England with a dominant 142-run victory, securing a 3-0 series whitewash.

India’s innings were anchored by Shubman Gill, who scored a brilliant 112 off 102 balls, including 14 boundaries and 3 sixes. Virat Kohli provided solid support with a well-crafted 52, while Shreyas Iyer contributed a quickfire 78 off 64 balls.
KL Rahul‘s 40 off 29 balls added crucial runs towards the end, helping India post a formidable total of 356. England’s bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batsmen, with Adil Rashid being the standout performer, taking 4 wickets for 64 runs.
In response, England’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure. Openers Ben Duckett (34) and Philip Salt (23) started promisingly, but the middle order fell apart. Apart from Tom Banton and Gus Atkinson, both scored 38, there were no significant contributions, resulting in England being bowled out for 214 in just 34.2 overs.

India’s bowlers executed a clinical performance. Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, and Hardik Pandya each claimed two wickets, effectively dismantling the English batting lineup. The spinners, especially Axar Patel, capitalized on the conditions, maintaining precise lines and lengths.

On the other hand, England’s bowlers had difficulty making early breakthroughs. Mark Wood dismissed Rohit Sharma early, but India’s lack of consistent wickets allowed them to build substantial partnerships. Adil Rashid’s impressive four-wicket haul stood out amid an otherwise disappointing bowling performance.

This series win is a significant milestone for India, emphasizing its readiness for upcoming challenges.
India’s commanding 142-run victory underscored their comprehensive dominance throughout the series. This win not only completed a clean sweep but also significantly boosted the team’s confidence heading into the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
