New Delhi: In the wake of the recent incident in Pahalgam, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an advisory urging airlines to enhance flight connectivity from Srinagar to other Indian cities.
The move comes as a response to a sudden spike in demand from tourists wishing to return home.
The advisory, dated April 23, 2025, highlights the urgency of the situation, calling on airlines to swiftly increase the number of flights operating from Srinagar.
The DGCA stressed the need to maintain uninterrupted connectivity to ensure the safe evacuation of stranded tourists.
“Airlines are advised to take swift action to increase the number of flights in response to heightened demand,” the advisory stated.
It also recommended that airlines waive cancellation and rescheduling fees and provide all necessary assistance to affected tourists.
The government’s quick response aims to ease the travel difficulties of tourists caught in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident and ensure their smooth return home.
