In an in-depth interview with The New Indian’s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, Kuldeep Bishnoi reveals the reasons behind the toughest 30 seconds of his life, when his vote led to the defeat of Congress candidate Ajay Maken in the recently held Rajya Sabha polls.

Bishnoi, son of three-time former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal said that his vote was not against Maken, whom he referred to as a friend. Bishnoi, who felt wronged by Rahul Gandhi’s unkept promises, said that his vote is against ‘the wrong decision made by the party’ in selecting the party.

Bishnoi also said that he waited for a whole month for Rahul Gandhi to explain to him why the promises made were not kept. Bishnoi also said that he did not think that he had betrayed the party as he had given them a chance to explain the broken promises.

Targeting his guns on his rival Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Bishnoi said that whenever the party gave the former Haryana CM a free hand it failed. Bishnoi also said that the Hooda is responsible for Congress’ eroding support base in the state.

On his future course of action, Bishnoi said that he is meeting his supporters. He will make a decision soon keeping in mind the popular sentiments of his supporters.
