Summary

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav slammed the BJP-led Delhi government’s 100-day celebrations as a “publicity stunt,” accusing it of wasteful spending and policy failures. He highlighted unmet promises on women’s honorarium, infrastructure neglect, poor healthcare facilities, and the worsening Yamuna pollution crisis. Yadav demanded urgent government action on these issues.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav today sharply criticized the BJP-led Delhi government’s 100-day celebrations, calling it a “publicity stunt” to mask administrative shortcomings.

Speaking at a press conference, Yadav alleged that Thursday’s event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium—featuring actor Anupam Kher—wasted “crores of rupees” of public funds. He claimed the Rekha Gupta government had produced a “blank report card” with no substantive achievements for Delhi residents.

Key Allegations:

1. Unfulfilled Promises: Yadav highlighted the unmet pledge of ₹2,500 monthly honorarium for Delhi’s women.
2. Infrastructure Neglect: He cited unresolved issues including waterlogging, road maintenance, sewer desilting, public transport, sanitation, and unreliable power/water supply.
3. Healthcare Concerns: The inauguration of an ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ clinic at Tees Hazari was dismissed as “renaming gimmickry.” Yadav alleged the facility lacked basic staff, testing capabilities, and space for vaccinations or yoga services.
4. Yamuna Pollution Crisis: Citing a DPCC report (April 23, 2025), Yadav noted fecal contamination levels at 1.5 million MPN/100ml—far above safe limits—and zero dissolved oxygen at multiple sites.
He accused the government of treating the river “like a drain” and delaying 12 sewage plants under AMRUT-2.

Policy Demands:

Yadav urged the government to prioritize:
– Women’s honorarium implementation
– Health sector modernization
– Concrete Yamuna rejuvenation plans
– A tri-state (Delhi-Haryana-Centre) white paper on river management
The Delhi government has not yet responded to these allegations. The 100-day event highlighted governance milestones, though opposition parties have consistently questioned their impact.
