New Delhi: In a significant development, an advanced Chinese-made PL-15 long-range missile, gifted to Pakistan, malfunctioned and crashed in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district after being launched by the Pakistan Air Force. Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully neutralized a major infiltration attempt backed by Pakistani forces in Jammu’s Samba sector.
Chinese Missile Fails, Raises Reliability Concerns
The PL-15 missile, fired from Pakistan, “fizzled out” mid-flight and crashed in Indian territory, raising serious questions about its operational reliability. Indian security forces recovered the debris, which is now being analyzed for further technical assessment.
Defense experts suggest that the malfunction could be a major embarrassment for China and Pakistan, as the PL-15 is touted as a cutting-edge air-to-air missile. This incident comes amid growing concerns over China’s military exports to Pakistan and their effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
BSF Foils Infiltration Bid, Destroys Pak Rangers Post
In a separate but equally critical incident, the BSF detected and thwarted a large-scale infiltration attempt by terrorists in the Samba sector during the intervening night of May 8-9. The operation was backed by covering fire from Pakistan’s Rangers post in Dhandhar.
Alert BSF troops engaged the infiltrators, killing at least seven terrorists. In a strong retaliation, Indian forces also inflicted heavy damage on the Pak Rangers’ Dhandhar post, destroying a BMG bunker. A High-Resolution Thermal Imaging (HHTI) clip of the bunker’s destruction has been released as evidence.
Escalating Tensions at the Border
The twin incidents highlight escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border. While the failed missile launch raises doubts over Pakistan’s military capabilities, the foiled infiltration bid underscores continued cross-border terrorism attempts supported by Pakistani forces.
Indian security agencies remain on high alert, with further investigations underway into both incidents. The government is expected to issue a strong response to these provocations in the coming days.
