SRINAGAR: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Leader of Opposition and Padder-Nagseni MLA Sunil Sharma launched a scathing attack on the ruling National Conference (NC), accusing it of fueling instability in Jammu and Kashmir over decades.

He held NC accountable for events ranging from the 1931 disturbances to the 1989 Kashmiri Pandit exodus, and the recent Kulgam attack, where an ex-serviceman was killed by an unidentified terrorist, leaving his wife and niece seriously injured.

Addressing the media outside the Army’s 92-Base Hospital in Srinagar, Sharma stated that their visit was aimed at meeting and checking on the condition of the injured women who suffered critical wounds in the terror attack at Behibagh village in South Kashmir’s Kulgam two days ago.

“I, along with BJP J&K President Sat Sharma, former President Ravinder Raina, and other senior leaders, am visiting Kulgam to stand in solidarity with the family of Manzoor Wagay, an ex-serviceman who was tragically killed in the attack. Following the directives of the party’s central leadership, we are here to offer support and assistance to the bereaved family,” Sharma said.

Continuing his sharp criticism, Sharma accused NC of consistently disrupting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “Whether it was the 1931 unrest, the 1989 forced migration of Kashmiri Pandits, or this recent attack in Kulgam, NC has always played a dangerous game that has destabilized the region,” he alleged.

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP J&K President Sat Sharma vehemently condemned the Kulgam attack, holding certain elements responsible for attempting to destabilize the region.

“Their sacrifices will not be forgotten,” he asserted. “Some people, acting on Pakistan’s instructions, are deliberately trying to create chaos here. They will be brought to justice. The courage of our martyrs will always be honoured, and we will ensure that peace prevails.”
