BHARATPUR: BJP MP Ranjeeta Koli was allegedly attacked by the mining mafia when she went to check the overloaded trucks carrying stones from illegal mining in Bharatpur.

Koli narrowly escaped after the mining mafia pelted stones at the MP’s car near the Dhilawati police chowki. Following the attack, the MP sat on a dharna at the same spot along with her supporters and raised slogans against the administration.

Koli said, “Illegal mining in the area should be reported and action taken against the accused. The administration is lenient towards the mining mafia but I have been assured that action will soon be taken against the mining mafia.”

SP Shyam Singh said, “At 11.20 pm on Sunday, the incident happened and when we got to know about it, we immediately reached the spot. We have told the MP that we will take action against the accused. The investigation is going on and the accused will be arrested within seven days.”

District collector Alok Ranjan also reached the spot and said action will be initiated soon against the accused.

The BJP MP ended the sit-in after the assurances.
