Shrikant Tyagi is accused of abusing a woman in Noida.

DEHRADUN: Three teams of the Noida Police have reached Uttarakhand in search of Shrikant Tyagi, who abused, manhandled, and spat on a woman in a Noida housing society.

Search operations are being conducted in Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Tapovan areas.

Sources from the state police department told The New Indian that the last location of Tyagi’s mobile phone was traced to Rishikesh, which has been switched off since then.

Ashok Kumar, director general of police, said, “I have instructed the SSP Dehradun and Haridwar to help the Noida Police.”

According to sources from the state police department, a CCTV in Haridwar captured Tyagi’s movements.

After Tyagi was suspected to have been spotted in Rishikesh, the Noida Police contacted the Uttarakhand Police, which immediately launched the hunt.

“We are checking all the CCTVs and questioning the people at the spots we suspect he visited, including the hotels, lodges, and hostels,” said a senior state police official from Dehradun.

On Sunday, supporters of Tyagi, who claim to be associated with Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha and have put photographs with the leaders of the party, had created a ruckus in the society where the woman resides.

Following this, local residents came out in protest against the police for not taking action against the accused.
