NEW DELHI: A man allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl, killed her, and then buried her in the basement of his home in Bihar’s Begusarai. Despite his servant’s testimony, he is still roaming free.

According to the local police, the minor girl had gone to pluck henna leaves in the compound of Guddu Singh’s residence in a village in Bachhwara area when he dragged her inside and violated her.

Fearing reprisal, the man then killed the girl and buried her in the basement of his home, wrapping her body in a plastic sheet to prevent it from stinking during decomposition.

The incident occurred on July 24. When her five-year-old brother went to Guddu’s home looking for her, his friend Om Singh said the girl was not there.

Later, the family members filed a missing person complaint with the local police station. Police registered the case and conducted an initial investigation, but not much was revealed.

Cops also detained Guddu’s two servants and questioned them for hours, but did not find anything substantial.

The family members of the victim later recorded the servants giving details of the crime and sent the video to the police, leading to the re-apprehension of the duo. During police questioning, they broke down and confessed to the crime.

The victim’s half-naked body was recovered from Guddu’s home, sparking anger among villagers who attacked the accused family and ransacked his home.

However, the police are yet to arrest Guddu, who is said to be well-connected in the local political circles.
