Ranbir Kapoor enters into the Rs 500 Crore Club with 'Animal' Box Office Triumph

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has levelled his status alongside legends Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol by joining the exclusive Rs 500 crore club with his latest blockbuster, ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

The film witnessed an extraordinary surge at the box office on its third Sunday, signalling that more records are poised to tumble in its triumphant journey. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Animal’ crossed the coveted Rs 500 crore milestone on its 17th day, raking in an estimated Rs 15 crore and amassing a nett total of Rs 35 crore during its third weekend. The film’s all-India nett has now soared to an impressive Rs 512 crore.

Ranbir Kapoor stands as the sole Bollywood actor, following in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol, to achieve this remarkable feat.

In terms of global performance, ‘Animal’ is closing in on the Rs 850 crore mark, with Hindi collections alone reaching an estimated Rs 466 crore.

Despite its phenomenal success, the film is in hot pursuit of breaking the all-India nett box office record held by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan,’ which stands at Rs 543 crore. Another Shah Rukh release, ‘Jawan,’ remains formidable with a collection of Rs 640 crore all-India nett.

‘Animal’ trails behind the Hindi collections of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Gadar 2,’ both of which concluded their runs at Rs 524 crore and Rs 525 crore, respectively. To claim the top spot, ‘Animal’ must surpass the Rs 50 crore mark.

The future success of the film depends on its continued run, especially with the challenge of reduced screens in the third week, coinciding with the release of two highly anticipated Christmas films – Shah Rukh Khan-Rajkumar Hirani’s social comedy-drama ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ action-packed ‘Salaar.’

Led by Ranbir Kapoor, ‘Animal’ features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna. Released on December 1, the film went head-to-head with Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ at the box office.
