Alia Bhatt reacts to Ranbir Kapoor being lebelled as toxic

NEW DELHI: In a recent episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8, Alia Bhatt addressed the online backlash faced by her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, due to a comment she made about him in October. During the interview, Alia revealed that Ranbir would suggest she wipe off her lipstick because he preferred her natural lip colour. This innocent remark led to Ranbir being labelled as a ‘toxic’ partner by netizens.

When questioned by Karan Johar about the online ‘explosion’ following her comments, Alia explained that since Ranbir is not active on social media, any mention of him tends to garner more attention. She admitted to having a candid way of speaking, often using “anecdotes” and “imitations” to make her conversations more personal.

Alia disclosed how she responded to Ranbir being unfairly labelled as toxic. She highlighted the tendency for things to be taken out of context, citing a specific video that escalated quickly. Initially, she considered letting it go, given her team’s frequent handling of various matters. However, the seriousness of the situation struck her when she saw articles portraying Ranbir in a negative light.

Alia stated, “Are we serious? There are many issues in the world to talk about and give more attention towards than talking about something that I said in a completely different context.” She concluded by defending Ranbir, emphasising that he is misunderstood and genuinely the opposite of the negative portrayal circulating online. Alia urged people to focus on more pressing issues and reiterated that Ranbir is not the person he was being made out to be.
