New Delhi: Yet another Air India flight reportedly faced a mid-air emergency, raising fresh concerns over the safety of Boeing aircraft. It was a minor technical issue says AIR India.

Flight AI315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi, was forced to make an emergency return to Chek Lap Kok Airport after reportedly developing an engine issue.

Speaking with The New Indian, the spokesperson of AIR India said that to avoid any mishappening, the flight was diverted, but there was nothing serious in the matter.

“AI315 operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 16 June 2025, air-returned to Hong Kong shortly after take off due to a technical issue. The flight landed safely at Hong Kong and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution. Alternative arrangements have been planned to fly the passengers to their destination Delhi at the earliest. We are providing all necessary on-ground assistance to the passengers to minimise the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen disruption,” said Air India Spokesperson

Same Model as Crashed Gatwick Flight:

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner—the same model as the ill-fated AI171, which crashed on June 12 while en route to Gatwick.

This latest incident has intensified scrutiny over Boeing’s safety standards and Air India’s maintenance protocols.

However, the AIR India official said that it was only a minor technical issue.

Public Outrage on Social Media:

The near-miss sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with users demanding accountability from both Boeing and Air India.

“Another crash averted, Air India again. The aircraft? Boeing 787—same model as the crashed AI171. How many warnings before a full-scale review?” – @HhskSonu.

“All these checks were ignored earlier by this airline. Now they’re acting on lapses that could’ve prevented last week’s catastrophe.”– @meetrahuldev.

“Boeing must be held accountable. Why do these failures keep happening only to their aircraft?,” Posted @Good29219724
