NEW DELHI: BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Reserve Driver Kush Maini headlined the team’s presence on Day 1 of the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, tackling the iconic Hill Climb in the A523 — Alpine’s 2023 Formula 1 challenger that secured podium finishes in Monaco and Zandvoort.

This marked Kush’s second appearance at Goodwood, where he proudly represented Alpine as the team kicked off its 70th anniversary celebrations. Leading the Alpine showcase, Kush drove the A523 up the hill alongside a fleet of standout machines including the classic A110 Berlinette, the A110 R, the A290, the upcoming A390, and the Alpenglow hypercar concept.

Currently racing in FIA Formula 2, Kush was Alpine’s sole F1 representative at the Thursday demonstration — held as part of the festival’s commemoration of 75 years of Formula 1. The A523, originally driven by Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly to fifth place in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship, was presented in its striking 2025 blue-and-pink livery.

Though his appearance was brief due to his Formula E testing duties with Mahindra Racing in Berlin, Kush’s run at Goodwood was a proud moment as he carried India’s flag on a prestigious global stage.

Kush Maini said:
“It was a pleasure to return to Goodwood after my first visit last year and to be part of the celebrations for 75 years of Formula One and 70 years of Alpine. Taking on the Hill Climb in the A523 was a special moment after driving the E20 last year. Goodwood is a real fan-favourite event, and it was amazing to see so many people turn up in support.”
