Youngsters Of 15-18 Age Group To Get Vaccine: Prime Minister

NEW DELHI:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday in his address to nation announced that youngsters of 15-18 age group will be vaccinated and frontline healthcare workers and senior citizens will be given precaution doses.

PM Modi said that this will strengthen the confidence of healthcare workers. The PM also cautioned the public on omicron without the need for panic. PM said that the healthcare workers will be able to get this precaution doses from January 10.

Citizens above 60 years of age with co-morbidities will also have the option of precaution dose of the vaccine on the advice of their doctor. This will also be available from 10 January.

COVAXIN also receives approval for emergency use in Children 12 – 18 years of age. COVAXIN is formulated uniquely such that the same dosage can be administered to adults and children. COVAXIN has established a proven record for safety and efficacy in adults for the original variant and subsequent variants. We have documented excellent safety and immunogenicity data readouts in Children. We look forward for COVAXIN to provide similar levels of protection for adults and children alike.
